4. (Optional) In the back left corner (or upper left) portion of your yard or design area-dig out the shape pictured at left. It should reflect a smaller version of the larger bed.
5. Plant 4 medium to large ornamental grasses. (approx.4' height) Suggestions:
Chinese Pennisetum - Pennisetum alopecuroides;
Reed Grass - Calamagrostis arundinacea brachytricha;
Switch Grass - Panicum virgatum;
Flame Grass - Miscanthus sinensis purpurascens
6. Plant a Dwarf Ornamental Flowering Tree in the center of the lower left bed. (marked with an "X") Suggestions: Kwanzan Flowering Cherry, Yoshino Cherry, Purple Plum or Eastern Redbud. Fill in around the tree with hostas.

7. (A) It's time to create a path from the brick patio to the bench area. (B) Also, we'll create a path through the planting bed to the grass. Add stepping stones as shown above.
